The vintage of 2021 in Priorat was curious due to an exceedingly-delayed maturity cycle, but for those why waited, they were rewarded with fine wines.
Grapes were sourced from the “la Devesa” zone within the boundaries of the Porrera village. The soil is composed of alluvial llicorella, containing a mix of this local slate as well as larger river stones from the seasonal Cortiella River that passes to the north. It sits at an elevation of 310m with a no noticeable orientation.
These Grenache vines are approximately 30 years old and trellis trained. Due to the delayed maturity, grapes were harvested 03 October. They were half destemmed and crushed, mixed with half full cluster. They were pressed off on 15 October and the resulting juice was moved to a stainless-steel tank to finish vinification and aging. The wine was bottled on 01 August with 30mg/l of SO2 added prior to bottling. The vineyard is in current conversion to full organic certification.
