The vintage of 2021 in Priorat was curious due to an exceedingly-delayed maturity cycle, but for those why waited, they were rewarded with fine wines.
The grapes were sourced from the “el Bassot” zone within the boundaries of the la Morera village at the foot of the Montsant Massif. The soil is composed of decomposed limestone and clay at a high elevation of 650m and vines are approximately 25 years old, trellis trained on larger terraces on either side of a small vale with one half oriented northeast and the other south.
Due to the delayed maturity for the vintage and the altitude, grapes were harvested 06 October and foot stomped initially with another stomp on 10 October. Full clusters were initially used with no destemming, in a wide tub for initial fermentation. They were pressed off on 21 October and the resulting juice was moved to a stainless-steel tank. The wine was bottled on 01 August with 30mg/l of SO2 added prior to bottling. The vineyard has full organic certification.
